Next up on the September itinerary: a long weekend in Napa Valley!
I’ll do a post-trip recap once I’m back, but as a lil sneak peek, here are a few things about the trip that have me the most excited:
The Hotel Yountville. The hotel where we’re staying looks absolutely gorgeous and I think it will be the perfect setting for a weekend of relaxation! It’s located right in downtown Yountville so we’ll be able to walk to dinner every night.
And as if there aren’t enough opportunities to drink wine in Napa, I can’t wait to check out the hotel’s daily happy hour wine tastings, too! Hotel Yountville, you had me at happy hour.
Tour and wine tasting at Nickel & Nickel. This winery looks so charming and I’ve heard that the tour is one of the best in Napa. When planning this trip, the advice I got was to mix up the kinds of wineries to visit, for a variety of price points and places: big commercial wineries with sprawling estates vs. mom & pop joints where you taste wine in their garage.
Part of the fun of wine tasting is getting to sample wines that you might not otherwise buy yourself – and, let’s keep it real here – in some cases because of the cost. Nickel & Nickel’s bottles of cabernet retail for more than what I’d spend on a bottle of wine – but I can’t wait to do a little sampling! Oh and there’s cheese, too. Say no more.
What to Pack for a Long Weekend in Napa Valley
As for what I’m bringing….let’s call it the What to Pack: The Wine Tasting Edition:
For wine tasting: ditching the white denim since I am usually the one who spills red wine! For tasting during the day, I’m bringing this sundress (on sale!) and this maxi dress (on sale + extra 50% off means the dress is just $30!) – both of which have been summer staples.
For those daily wine happy hours and dinners out: black denim, a studded linen top (on sale!) and a blazer you’ve met before. I’m also throwing in a cocktail dress for Saturday night dinner at Bottega.
Looking forward to enjoying a slow-paced, wine-fueled weekend – and I’ll give you the full scoop once I’m back!
