I am definitely a creature of habit when it comes to shoes and travel. I usually wear some sort of ballet flat to the airport and then pack a pair of heels, along with a second pair of shoes – usually either sandals or my Nikes, depending on the trip.
Every once in a while though, my travel plans throw me a curve ball…as travel is known to do…and gets in the way of my run-of-the-mill shoe routine.
One of these such curve balls is the there-and-back-in-a-day business trip. The kind where you wake up in the dark at an inhumane hour to catch a 6am flight, then run to a meeting, eat a gross boxed lunch, run back to the airport and cross your fingers that your return flight (the last of the day, of course) isn’t canceled. Because the only underwear you have with you is the stuff you’re wearing.
When I have a trip like this, I will actually travel in heels. I KNOW. It just got craaaaazy up’n hurr.
And why do I insist on doing this? C’mon, you know as well as I do that pencil skirts look way better with heels.
Actually? It’s really because I finally found a pair of heels that are so incredibly comfortable, I can walk in them for literally miles without batting an eyelash. And I am not usually that girl. My college friends will remember me whining to go home early from parties just because my feel hurt from my shoes (true).
I know I could just bring two pairs with me, but I just really don’t like putting shoes in my handbag.
So these shoes are like my own personal travel miracle. They truly are the best heels for travel. I love them so much that I bought them in two colors. When my dog ate them (yes, all four), I bought the same two pairs again because I don’t know what I would do without them. And if that happens again, I will buy them AGAIN. When the heel needed replacing, I replaced them. And I’d do it again.
Oh, did you want to know what they are?
OK drumroll please…this fine specimen of leather footwear is this slingback heel.
The Nine West Able Platform slingback. Even the name is just so apropos, because when you are wearing them, you are ABLE to do stuff…like WALK. They come in a boatload of different colors and right now they are on sale for only $50. BOOM.
